Meridian’s school year begins on August 9th, which often draws student complaints. However, there’s a silver lining: the much-anticipated fall break.
We enjoy fall break in the middle of October—a splendid week when students are free from school and responsibilities. It’s a time of freedom and relaxation, a break from the routine.
Students engage in various activities during every break in their free time, from college visits to road trips, but what do they do during this break?
When asked about Meridian’s fall break tradition, Junior Lillian Phillips said, “It’s a refreshing break that allows me to step back and relax, which is great for full DP students.” Phillips, who will be attending a college visit in Arizona during this fall break and taking a road trip with her family, emphasized her active participation during the break, saying, “I’ve always been more active during fall break because my parents take time off, and we always spend quality time together.”
Senior Joe Bailey loves fall break. When asked about the tradition, he said, “I like it. I think it’s a useful break that can be used in many ways.” While Bailey plans on working this entire break to “get some extra spending money,” he also plans to enjoy the time off.
Students are almost to their last week of classes for the quarter. In Meridian fashion, it has been a bit of a stressful push, but we are almost there.
There is one final week of assignments until our first restful break of the semester. Whether they’re hitting the road, spending time with family, or simply relaxing, fall break promises to be the perfect way for everyone to recharge for their busy weeks ahead.
